A physique was recovered from the Otonabee River in Peterborough, Ont., on Tuesday following stories of a lacking swimmer on Monday night.

Round 6:45 p.m., Peterborough Hearth Companies launched a search of the river close to Lansdowne Avenue after receiving stories of a person who was unaccounted for within the water whereas swimming with a bunch of individuals.

The Peterborough Police Service on Tuesday morning mentioned a 23-year-old man from Peterborough first entered the water from the shore of Little Lake close to the practice bridge within the space of Lansdowne and Edward streets.

Police say a buddy, who had jumped into the water from the practice bridge, tried to assist the sufferer however was unsuccessful. The second man was taken to the Peterborough Regional Well being Centre for remedy.

A search of the water by emergency crews — which included using a police drone — continued till it was known as off simply after 9 p.m. attributable to darkness.

The search resumed round 11 a.m. Tuesday, police mentioned, with help from the OPP’s underwater search and restoration unit.

Police say on Tuesday the OPP divers recovered the person’s physique.

“Next of kin have been notified and the incident is now a Coroner’s investigation,” police acknowledged Tuesday afternoon. “Thank you to the public for their help and patience during this incident.”

The drowning follows an incident at close by Beavermead Park on June 23 after a person’s physique was pulled from Little Lake.
