Five individuals were hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident that involved an unmarked Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser in Peterborough on Sunday.

The incident took place near Highway 7/Highway 115 and Television Road,

according to the Peterborough County OPP, who received reports about the crash around 1:40 p. m. involving an unmarked OPP cruiser driven by an officer on duty.

The other vehicle was a pickup truck with four civilians inside, they reported.

Investigators indicated that some of those involved suffered minor injuries, while others were evaluated and transported to a nearby hospital as a “precautionary measure.”

The intersection at Highway 7/Highway 115 and Television Road was closed for several hours as emergency crews managed the scene and collision reconstruction officers documented everything.

The investigation into the cause of this accident is still ongoing.

Anyone who might have seen this crash or has video/dashcam footage and hasn’t contacted police is encouraged to reach out to the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
