Recently, most of the new measles cases in Ontario were reported from a well-known summer travel spot.
Public Health Ontario has announced 32 new measles cases, with 19 occurring in Huron Perth.
This public health unit, located west of Kitchener, includes Stratford, famous for its annual theatre festival, as well as popular Lake Huron beach destinations like Clinton and Goderich.
This brings the total number of cases in Ontario to 2,276 since an outbreak started last fall.
Health experts are cautiously optimistic about the decline in case numbers given the ups and downs of this highly contagious disease.
In Alberta, they’re also facing an outbreak, reporting a total of 1,340 cases since their outbreak began in March. This week they surpassed the case count seen in the United States.
Additionally, New Brunswick declared a measles outbreak this week and has confirmed five cases in its south-central region.
