Environment Canada is predicting snow and freezing rain across nearly all of eastern Ontario on Friday.
The weather agency warns that freezing rain will hit in the morning, followed by five to 10 centimetres of snow later in the day. This alert covers an area from Carleton Place down to Napanee, and Marmora over to Prescott.
A previous snowfall warning for areas south and west of Ottawa has ended.
A special weather statement for most other parts of eastern Ontario indicates that 10 centimetres of snow will begin around noon.
No alerts are in place for the Belleville area.
School buses have been cancelled throughout eastern Ontario, except for those operating in Ottawa.
The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority mentioned that there might be bus delays in the afternoon.
Most schools remain open. It’s best to check with your school or board regarding procedures when buses aren’t running.
No cancellations have been reported for western Quebec.
