Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a person was shot and injured by police after he allegedly injured a number of individuals with a weapon in Ottawa’s east finish Friday night time.
The Particular Investigations Unit (SIU) says officers with the Ottawa Police Service responded to a name a few man with a weapon who was assaulting individuals and damaging automobiles within the space of St. Joseph Boulevard and Place d’Orléans Drive at roughly 11:15 p.m.
“Police confronted the person. An officer shot the person a number of occasions,” the SIU mentioned in a media launch on Saturday.
“Two performed power weapons had been deployed.”
The SIU says the person was arrested and brought to hospital.
4 individuals had been injured and brought to hospital with non-life-threatening accidents. The province’s watchdog didn’t specify the kind of weapon the suspect used to assault them.
As of Saturday morning, SIU investigators stay on the scene, which spans throughout three parking tons and a secondary street on Place d’Orléans Boulevard.

The SIU is investigating the officer discharging a firearm on the man, based on an SIU spokesperson. 5 investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

The Ottawa Police Service is conducting a parallel investigation into the alleged assaults of the 4 individuals within the space.
‘You see this on TV’: Witness
Ontario Chronicle Ottawa’s reporter Dylan Dyson spoke with a witness who lives simply behind the Wendy’s on Place d’Orléans Saturday.
The witness, Jack Guardian, says that what he noticed isn’t one thing individuals in Orléans would see.
“You see this on TV,” Guardian mentioned.
“(on the time) I heard an enormous bang, so I assumed any person banged on our window. So, we seemed outdoors and we noticed (about) eight cop automobiles outdoors of Wendy’s, simply pointing one thing, I assumed it was their weapons.
“I went out and we noticed the man on the bottom, in order that’s all the best way. I did not see earlier than that. Cops had been yelling on the van throughout the road on the mall: ‘Go test it out.'”
