A pilot walked away with minor accidents after his small airplane crashed close to a Smiths Falls airport on Saturday.
OPP stated officers with the Lanark County detachment responded to the Russ Seashore Airport, simply east of Smiths Falls, shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. Police stated a pilot had been conducting a coaching flight, simulating repeated takeoff and touchdown manoeuvres, when the Cessna 172 misplaced energy and crashed about half a kilometre from the runway.
The pilot, who was alone within the airplane, walked again to the Smiths Falls Flying Membership’s facility after crashing.
