An Ottawa driver faces $10,000 in fines and is banned from driving for 2 years after being noticed going 134 km/h over the pace restrict on Freeway 174.


Ottawa Police say an officer noticed a BMW travelling at 234 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Freeway 174 close to Blair Street on Sept. 20.


“The automobile was then noticed by an Ottawa Police K9 Unit officer on Freeway 417,” police mentioned in a media launch on Oct. 2. “The officer then tried a site visitors cease, however the automobile fled into the downtown core.”


On Oct. 1, a 27-year-old man was charged with harmful operation of a motorized vehicle, stunt driving and flight from police.


On Wednesday, police mentioned that following additional investigation, which included police dash-cam video and surveillance footage from witnesses, the driving force pleaded responsible. Police say the driving force faces a $6,000 fantastic for stunt driving, $2,000 fantastic for careless driving and a $2,000 fantastic for failing to cease for police.


“Ottawa Police, together with our nationwide capital policing companions, the OPP and RCMP, will proceed to focus on and examine these irresponsible and harmful drivers who use our roads in a harmful method, in the end placing harmless lives at risk,” Const. Phil Kane mentioned in an announcement.
