Earl of March Secondary College in Ottawa’s Kanata neighbourhood was positioned in a safe faculty mode for roughly half-hour, after lecturers had been alerted to the potential for a weapon on the faculty.
Emergency crews responded to the general public highschool on The Parkway within the Beaverbrook neighbourhood Tuesday afternoon. The Ottawa-Carleton District College Board stated employees on the faculty had been alerted {that a} pupil could have been in possession of a weapon.
“The Ottawa Police Service performed a radical investigation and concluded that it was unfounded,” the board stated in a press release to Ontario Chronicle Ottawa.
Police stated on social media that there was a police operation in place at 1:14 p.m.
“The college went into safe faculty mode for a brief time period. It has since been lifted,” police stated at 1:35 p.m.
“Police stay on scene to proceed the investigation. There is no such thing as a present risk to public security.”
