The federal authorities has signed offers with 9 extra Ontario municipalities and two in Saskatchewan to deal with homelessness.
The agreements are price a mixed $91.5 million over two years and meant to assist the municipalities’ encampment response plans.
These plans embody creating new shelter areas and growing transitional housing choices.
Durham, Peel, Hamilton, Niagara, Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, Sudbury and York in Ontario have signed onto a deal, as did Saskatoon and Regina.
A report from the federal authorities launched Wednesday morning reads that Ottawa was unable to work out a take care of the Ontario and Saskatchewan governments in time to ship funding earlier than the winter.
The municipalities will reportedly match federal funding.
Mixed with the settlement with the Metropolis of London, made on Dec. 13, 2024, to deal with unsheltered homelessness, the federal authorities says they may ship over $88 million to 10 municipalities in Ontario, and about $8 million to 2 cities in Saskatchewan.
The federal authorities says extra agreements with provinces and territories are anticipated to be introduced within the coming weeks.
