An awkward silence fell over everyone after they were told to stand for the national anthem before the women’s volleyball gold medal game at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. Finally, a loud bass track that was definitely not O Canada started playing from the speakers. Newfoundland’s tricky weather had a few surprises left as we approached the penultimate day of competition at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. The morning wind chill dropped to a chilly 5°C with gusts around 40 km/h.
