The Metropolis of Ottawa says it’s considerably rising its funding in reasonably priced and supportive housing. On Wednesday (Nov. 20), town’s planning and housing committee accepted a $22.9 million funding as a part of its 2025 draft finances, which is nearly $5 million greater than what was initially proposed. This improve in funding comes from extra income from the Vacant Unit Tax program.

The town says the purpose is to develop the annual funding in reasonably priced housing annually, reaching between $138.3 million and $162.7 million over the subsequent six years. This improve in funding will assist to create at the very least 500 new supportive and reasonably priced housing items per 12 months. The town additionally hopes to leverage federal and provincial investments to help the tasks.
