FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, July 30, 2024   1:30 pm

(Ottawa)—The Metropolis of Ottawa and the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) welcomed media to current the new provincially-funded H135 police helicopter at a particular occasion on the Rockcliffe Airport this morning.

The police helicopter can be used to maintain Ottawa roadways protected from organized auto theft, road racing and impaired driving. It is going to even be used for common frontline patrol, critical offences (e.g. lively shooter incident) and lacking individuals searches.

The helicopter’s upkeep can be beneath a contract and paid for by the Province. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will present each the pilots and floor crew and there can be OPS Tactical Flight Officers paid for and skilled by the OPP. The helicopter will have the ability to help different police jurisdictions inside japanese Ontario with main incidents.
