With up to 35 cm of snow expected in Ottawa and The Valley on Thursday, school buses were quickly cancelled for many students.

Buses were not running for students in the Ottawa Catholic School Board, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE), and Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario.

Even though there were no buses, schools stayed open.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported responding to nearly a dozen accidents since 5:00 a. m. on Thursday throughout eastern Ontario.

A winter parking ban was put in place by the city to assist with cleanup as the snow piled up.
