A commander of a patrol frigate within the Royal Canadian Navy has been relieved of his obligation mid-deployment resulting from what the navy calls a “loss of confidence.”

An announcement from the navy on Friday stated the explanations for eradicating Cmdr. Adriano Lozer from command of the HMCS Ottawa “do not concern any form of misconduct.”

The navy stated the transfer was needed “to ensure effective leadership” of the frigate with a crew of roughly 240 members because it continued its deployment within the Indo-Pacific area.

An announcement from final October, when the ship left its house port in Esquimalt, B.C., on Operation Horizon stated that mission’s aim was to “promote peace, stability, and the rules-based international order” within the area.

Friday’s assertion stated Cmdr. Landon Creasy would assume accountability of the ship till it returned to British Columbia in late March.

It stated that, when Lozer will get again to Canada, he’ll serve in different roles inside Maritime Forces Pacific and “procedural fairness will continue to be respected throughout all follow-on administrative processes.”
