A big cargo ship stays caught within the St. Lawrence River after operating aground on Saturday afternoon.
The Tim S. Dool, a 225-metre-long lake freighter, grew to become stranded in U.S. waters simply east of Morrisburg, Ont. at roughly 12:30 p.m.
The St. Lawrence Seaway Administration Company says there have been no accidents and there’s no reported air pollution or ingress of fabric into the water.
The ship is at the moment secure and stays exterior the navigation channel, the company mentioned in an announcement.
“Work is underway to finalize a salvage plan. An replace will comply with, as soon as the salvage plan is thought,” the company mentioned.
The Tim S. Dool is owned by the Algoma Central Company, a Canadian transport firm. The ship went into service in 1967 with a gross tonnage of 18,700.
It companies the St. Lawrence River and the Nice Lakes.
