There’s a lot of festive fun lined up this week, featuring several Santa Claus parades, wreath-making and card-painting workshops, plenty of Christmas craft sales, and holiday festivals in Carleton Place, Perth, Middleville, and Westport. Not quite in the holiday spirit yet? You might enjoy the Ottawa Charge’s season opener at TD Place, catch a performance of Hay Fever in New Edinburgh, watch “mildly sexy lumberjacks” in a music and comedy show in Brockville or Pembroke, or check out a film at the European Union Film Festival. And that’s just scratching the surface!

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Browse local art in Alta Vista

This Saturday, November 22, Art in the Neighbourhood will host its 8th annual Fall Art Show at Emmanuel United Church located at 691 Smyth Road in Alta Vista. From 10 am to 4 pm, you can shop for art from over 25 local artists. Admission is free and there’s parking available.

Take the family to a Santa Claus parade

Even though it’s still over a month until Christmas arrives, November usually brings milder weather than December! Maybe that’s why many communities kick off their Santa Claus parades early. This weekend features Christmas parades on Friday in Prescott; Saturday’s events are happening downtown Ottawa, Kanata, Westport, and Kingston; followed by Maxville on Sunday. Check out my comprehensive list of Santa parades for links to these events and more.

Support the Charge at TD Place

You can watch the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women’s Hockey League as they begin their first game of the 2025-26 season against the New York Sirens on Saturday, November 22 at TD Place.

Enjoy some laughs in Brockville or Pembroke

Canadian Steam is described as “a music and comedy show with mildly sexy lumberjacks.” From what I’ve seen so far it looks like it’ll be hilarious! It takes place on stage at Festival Hall @ L’Equinoxe in Pembroke on Thursday, November 20; then moves to Brockville Arts Centre on Friday, November 21.

Attend a concert across various genres

Music lovers should not forget to take a look at my extensive concert list which includes links to numerous live performances this week. The lineup is packed with artists ranging from Jann Arden performing in Belleville to Lemon Bucket Orkestra playing at Rainbow Bistro and Blue Rodeo appearing at NAC.

Find unique items in Kingston

The Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club will host its Fall Rocks Show and Sale from November 20 to 23 at Tett Centre. It’s your chance to shop for gems, jewelry and unique gifts.

Join Ladies Night in Kemptville

This coming Friday night on November 21st, downtown Kemptville shops will extend an extra warm welcome for women during Ladies Night. Start your evening by picking up your shopping passport (and enjoy a complimentary mocktail) at Salamander’s restaurant before checking out special deals across participating shops-ending your night nicely with dinner at Z’Amoré restaurant.

Watch a play in Ottawa or Winchester

This week marks five new productions opening around Ottawa! In Ottawa itself you can see Les Belles Soeurs showing at Gladstone Theatre; Hay Fever performed at Elmwood School; Annie staged at Centrepointe; plus The Real Sherlock Holmes being showcased within Stuart Holmes Arena located Osgoode. Just outside city limits near Old Town Hall Winchester you’ll find Dundas County Players presenting Lost In Yonkers. For more details about these shows check out my theatre roundup post.

Visit a Christmas market

The Ottawa Christmas Market taking place at Lansdowne Park.

The season for holiday craft sales kicks into high gear this weekend with markets popping up all over including Centretown, Glebe , Stittsville, Gatineau , Winchester, Renfrew, Brockville , Westport, Pembroke among MANY other areas too! To find out more about these markets take a look at my massive post dedicated solely to holiday markets!

Create holiday cards in Mississippi Mills

If you’ve got some free time during weekdays how about joining this workshop focused on crafting beautiful watercolor cards? It’ll happen this Friday afternoon (November 21st) right here within Mississippi Mills.

Experience Bach’s music live in Montreal

The annual Montreal Bach Festival (running between Nov15-Dec7), invites musicians worldwide every year who celebrate Johann Sebastian Bach’s masterpieces. This year audiences have exciting options such as three concerts held inside St. Joseph’s Oratory along with pianist Schaghajegh Nosrati performing his six partitas set scheduled later down( Nov26). Additionally we’ll hear accordionist Théo Ould perform songs followed by jazz interpretations done beautifully by Paul Lay(Dec2 ; check video above).
