39 charges laid after $6 million price of medication seized

39 charges laid after $6 million worth of drugs seized

The success of Challenge Midfield has resulted within the seizure of 47 kilograms of suspected cocaine and the arrest of three people dealing with a complete of 39 charges underneath the Legal Code (CC), the Managed Medicine and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Hashish Act (CA).

In September, the OPP-led Biker Enforcement Unit, together with Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Drug Unit and Brockville Police Service (BPS) Intelligence Unit, started Challenge Midfield to handle drug-trafficking exercise in Ottawa and jap Ontario, with a connection to the Larger Toronto Space.

On Nov. 27, police executed 4 search warrants at residences and automobiles in Ottawa and Milford. Consequently, the next gadgets had been seized:

One firearm;

5 magazines with ammunition;

Physique armour;

47 kilograms of suspected cocaine;

250 grams of suspected psilocybin;

Over 100 kilos of illicit hashish;

5 cell telephones;

A cash counter;

Indicia of drug trafficking, together with packaging and a digital scale;

$6,810 in Canadian forex; and

Two automobiles as offence-related property.

Police estimate the road worth of the medicine seized is greater than $6 million.

“The quantity of cocaine seized in this investigation will have significant impact on local drug trafficking networks,” OPP Appearing Chief Superintendent Mike Stoddart, of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, mentioned in a launch. “The OPP will continue to work on joint forces initiatives with our partner agencies to remove illegal drugs from our communities.”

A mixed complete of 39 charges had been laid in opposition to three people.

Dylan Graham, 37, of Ottawa, and Kaylee Diotte, 22, of Milford, have every been charged with the next 18 offences:

Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, s. 345 (1) CC;

Careless storage of a firearm, s. 86(1) CC;

Storage of a firearm in contravention of laws, s. 86(2) CC;

Possession of weapon for harmful objective, s. 88(1) CC;

Possession of firearm figuring out its possession is unauthorized, s. 92(1) CC;

4 counts of possession of prohibited weapon, system or ammunition figuring out its possession is unauthorized, s. 92(2) CC;

Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, s. 95(1) CC;

5 counts of possession of weapon obtained by fee of offence, s. 96(1) CC;

Possession for the needs of trafficking – cocaine, s. 5(2) CDSA;

Possession for the aim of trafficking – psilocybin, s. 5(2) CDSA; and

Possession of hashish for the aim of distributing, s. 9(5) CA.

Emma Durkan, 25, of Ottawa has been charged with three offences:

Possession for the needs of trafficking – cocaine, s. 5(2) CDSA;

Possession for the aim of trafficking – psilocybin, s. 5(2) CDSA; and

Possession of hashish for the aim of distributing, s. 9(5) CA.

Two of the accused had been taken into custody upon arrest, and one was launched. All three are scheduled to seem earlier than the Ontario Courtroom of Justice in Ottawa on a later date. 

“To keep Ontario communities safe from those who seek to cause harm for profit, it’s crucial that services collaborate-something clearly demonstrated by the success of Project Midfield,” OPS Superintendent Jamie Dunlop of the Severe and Organized Crime Unit, mentioned in a launch.

“This achievement underscores the power of partnerships and our shared commitment to keeping our neighbourhoods safe,” BPS Deputy Chief Andrew Harvie, added.
