Visitors at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa over the weekend were unable to purchase any alcohol.

A statement from the City of Oshawa on Sunday, February 8 mentioned that they were notified by Oak View Group (OVG) that the venue’s liquor licence had expired due to “an administrative error.”

Oshawa Generals season ticket holders received an email on Sunday informing them that there would be no alcohol service.

Due to an administrative error with our liquor license, alcohol service will not be available for this weekend’s events at the Tribute Communities Centre.

Normal alcohol service is expected to resume this week before the next event on Friday, February 13.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Online comments from attendees on Friday and Saturday also indicated they could not buy any alcohol during the events they went to.

The city states that OVG is responsible for securing and maintaining the liquor licence for the Tribute Communities Centre on behalf of the city.

According to information from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario’s website, the licence expired Monday, February 2.

OVG expects that regular alcohol service will return by their next event, which is an Oshawa Generals hockey game on Friday, February 13.

The city’s complete statement is below:

The City of Oshawa has been informed by Oak View Group (OVG) that, due to an administrative error, the Tribute Communities Centre’s (TCC) liquor licence has expired.

OVG has responsibility for obtaining and maintaining the liquor licence on behalf of the City for TCC.

This means alcohol service will not be available this weekend for the Oshawa Generals Hockey game on Sunday, February 8.

We regret any trouble this may cause.

OVG anticipates they will have regular alcohol service ready for their next event, which is Oshawa Generals Hockey on Friday, February 13.

Thank you for your understanding.
