Two workers at an assisted dwelling facility in Oshawa have been charged within the dying of an aged resident who spent an evening outdoor uncovered to the weather after she was inadvertently locked out of the constructing.
Durham Regional Cops had been known as to Aspira Traditions of Durham Area at 1255 Bloor Road East on April 1, 2023, after the resident was discovered unresponsive on a bench outdoors the ability.
“Paramedics attended and brought the female to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased,” a police launch states.
An investigation later revealed that the 79-year-old resident entered a stairwell and exited the constructing at round 7:30 p.m. the earlier night time.
“Over the course of the night, the female attempted to gain access to the building but was unable to because the doors were locked,” the discharge famous. “She sat on a bench and was located the following morning without vital signs.”

Two workers on the facility, Padmini Kisseur, 34, of Oshawa, and Danika Harrison, 29, of Newcastle, Ont., are charged with felony negligence inflicting dying and requirements of life and failing to supply to an individual below cost.
