Atmosphere Canada has issued a snow squall warning for Pickering, Oshawa and southern Durham, saying these areas might see between 10 and 20 centimetres of lake impact snow Thursday.
Lake-effect snow squalls have been anticipated to start Wednesday night time or early Thursday and proceed into Thursday afternoon, based on the federal climate company.
Atmosphere Canada says heavy and blowing snow might imply lowered visibility, and drivers needs to be ready for altering highway circumstances.
“Snow squalls trigger climate circumstances to differ significantly; modifications from clear skies to heavy snow inside only a few kilometres are frequent. Visibility will probably be out of the blue lowered to close zero at occasions in heavy snow and blowing snow,” the warning reads.
The snow squalls will have an effect on areas alongside the north shore of Lake Ontario, then shift south of the area by means of Thursday afternoon or night, it provides.
