An Oshawa mother found bullet holes in her daughter’s dresser and within the ceiling of her front room early Wednesday morning after police say greater than a dozen pictures have been “indiscriminately” fired at a housing advanced in a single day.


Police stated the pictures rang out at a housing advanced within the space of Mary Avenue North and Taunton Street at round 2:05 a.m.


In keeping with Durham Regional Police Chief Peter Moreira, 14 pictures have been fired however no accidents have been reported.


Moreira stated it’s “very lucky” that nobody was damage.


“Families were home sleeping while one or more coward(s) fired indiscriminately,” Moreira wrote in an announcement on social media.


Gabby Boileau instructed Ontario Chronicle Toronto that she was scrolling by her telephone together with her headphones on when the pictures have been fired.


“I heard a bunch of popping and I’ve never heard gunshots before so I thought it was a car backfiring,” she stated.


“Next thing you know, I’m seeing red and blue lights outside.”


She stated officers noticed her by the window and determined to come back ask her questions on what had occurred.


“It was then that I realized that there is in fact a bullet in the ceiling of my living room… and a bullet in my daughter’s bedroom under her bed,” Boileau stated.


Boileau stated her 12-year-old daughter was staying at her father’s home on Tuesday evening.


“Thank god she was not here,” she stated.


The bullet gap penetrated the wall underneath her daughter’s loft mattress and struck a dresser within the room.


“I just keep thinking about had been my daughter been home and her bed been a normal sized bed and not a loft bed, she would most likely not be with us today,” Boileau stated.


“I still haven’t really slept. I’ve had police in my house all night long… I haven’t processed what has happened yet.”


Talking to CP24 Wednesday, Durham police Constable Nicholas Gluckstein stated the state of affairs is alarming.


“If I used to be a guardian, secure inside my dwelling, that is the very last thing I’d count on to occur,” he stated.
