William Rapheal Purdon passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on January 21, 2026. He was predeceased by his mother, Sonia Purdon. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Sherry (late Leonard) and his nephews, Justin and Chad, along with many friends who cared deeply for him.

Born on September 23, 1966, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, William was well-liked by many throughout his life. From a young age, he had a strong passion for sports as both an athlete and a fan, which brought him joy and connection over the years.

In his twenties, William put in hard work and valued the time spent with family and friends. He especially looked forward to camping trips, attending the annual pig roast, and gathering with those he cared about most. At age 26, he became an uncle-a role he embraced wholeheartedly. William was a devoted uncle to Justin and Chad; he spent countless hours looking after them while helping raise them at home alongside Grandma Puffalt, Leonard, and Sherry. He shared with his nephews his love of sports, appreciation for music, and pride in their Jewish culture.

Throughout his 40s and 50s, William enjoyed a simple life focused on family routines. An avid hockey fan and enthusiastic collector of hockey cards; he proudly cheered for the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs. Supporting family members remained central to everything he did.

William dedicated himself to his jobs as well. He worked at Real Canadian Superstore for around 10 years followed by another decade at the Landmark Hotel where people recognized him for being reliable with a strong work ethic.

William will be remembered as someone who lived authentically with respect and integrity. His big laughter will be missed by everyone who knew him. His presence brought warmth and humor to those around him while his love for family leaves behind a lasting impression.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
