At the Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, on Tuesday February 3rd, 2026, Sylvia Fetter passed away peacefully at the age of 76. She was the loving daughter of the late James and Eileen (Samspon) Champaigne. Sylvia was a devoted wife to Brian Fetter for over 53 years. She was predeceased by their infant daughter Maria Fetter (1981). She leaves behind her dear sister Glenna (Larry) Brazeau of Timmins and her beloved niece Kelly (Norm) Bougie, along with honorary grandma status to their children Mattie and Maggie Bougie, Jason (Kelly) Brazeau, Cynthia (Steve) Joduin, Curtis Champaigne, Mark (Cindy) Weaver, Jill (Jack) Ferren, April Inglis, Jean (Gord) Gould, Jamie Inglis, John Inglis, Scott Weaver and Pam Weaver. She was also predeceased by her brother Gerald Champaigne (Joy), as well as sisters-in-law Patricia (James) Inglis and Vivian Weaver.
Brian and Sylvia met in North Bay before moving to Sarnia and then to Chatham. In Chatham they ran Fetter’s Snack Shack from 1975 to 1998. After that, Sylvia worked at Walmart from 1999 until her retirement in 2014.
Sylvia had a warm personality and loved being around family and friends. Her home always felt inviting; she often brought pots of soup or fresh muffins to share with neighbors. Her kindness will always be remembered.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 pm and again from 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday February 6th, 2026 at one o’clock in the afternoon. Cremation has already occurred. Interment will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham at a later date.
