October 11, 1941 – January 29, 2026
Raynold Arthur Wideman, who most people called Ray, passed away on January 29, 2026 at the TCU with his children around him. He was born on October 11, 1941 in Sunshine, ON. Over the years, Ray held various jobs but spent a significant part of his career-36 years-at Can Car (Bombardier), retiring in 2001. He appreciated routine, hard work and enjoyed simple pleasures in life. Camping at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park brought him peace. While camping, he loved taking daily bike rides and swimming in the lake. Ray had a knack for storytelling and often shared reflections about his life experiences and choices. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, consistent habits and the joy he found in everyday activities.
He is survived by his children: daughter Sherry-Lynn (Robert) Sereda, son Colin (Ashley) Wideman, daughter-in-law Marlene Rintala-Wideman; his grandchildren Corissa (Nick) Beck, Andrea (Morgan) Sereda, Jaret (Hannah) Sereda, Matthew (Janessa) Wideman, Justin Hernandez, Cody, Kayla and Connor Wideman; along with his great-grandchildren Addison and Ryker Beck. His brother Marvin Wideman and sisters-in-law Rose (Gary) Bruno and Simone Stas also survive him. Many nieces and nephews remember him fondly as well.
Ray was predeceased by his wife Beatrice in 2022; his son Dean in August 2025; as well as his parents Arthur and Hilda Wideman; in-laws Rudolf and Mary Stas; step-sister Elne; sister-in-law Clarice Wideman; and brother-in-law Joseph Stas.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the TCU at Hogarth for their kindness and care.
