It is with great sadness that the family shares the news of Robert (Bob) Charles Betts from Westville, NS, who passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital on January 3, 2026 after a short illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Laureen (nee Graham), their two sons, Shaun (Jeanette Lawlor) from St. John’s and Graham (Dawn Chapman) from Westville, along with two adored grandsons, Rogan and Aidan. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mary (Tate), his brother Hugh, and sister Dianne (Shakeness).

Born on January 31, 1943, Bob grew up on Westville Road. In his youth, he enjoyed dancing at the local hall where he met and wooed his lifelong partner Laureen. Bob tried various jobs but ultimately found his place as a stationary engineer at Scott Paper. Later in life, woodworking became his true passion. Many of his creations are treasured items in his family’s homes. Bob cherished spending time with family which included numerous trips together as well as skiing, golfing and fishing. He had a long-standing love for playing in the gentleman’s hockey league and enjoyed testing his luck at poker games too. His greatest pride were his grandsons; nothing made him happier than watching them follow their dreams. They will surely miss having their biggest supporter around!

A visitation will take place at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville on Monday, January 12th from 1pm to 2pm with a service and reception afterwards. If you wish to honor Bob’s memory with a donation, please consider contributing to your local food bank.
