MERCER- Marilyn Lily “Cookie”(Nee Robertson)

Marilyn Lily “Cookie” Mercer passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025 at Broulliette Manor, surrounded by family, at the age of 78. She was a loving mother to Kenneth (Deceased), Derek (Lisa), and Joe. Cookie will always be remembered fondly by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Julie Robertson. Cookie had siblings Gail, Barb, Peter, Diane, Glen who have passed away and is survived by Guy, Nancy, Hal, and Starr. She was a dear aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. If you knew Cookie, you loved her; if not, well.. that was probably your loss. That’s how we remember her best. Always there for family and friends or anyone in need, she dedicated many years as an addiction counselor working with House of Sophrosyne, the Welcome Center, Women’s Detox, and Casino Windsor. Cookie enjoyed tea sweets, gardening, walks in nature, and dancing to music. Her faith in God was unwavering; she cherished her church family and spent time reading the Bible. Each day she prayed for everyone she knew who needed comfort-especially her brothers and sisters along with her children and grandchildren. Cookie understood that she would be going home to Heaven; she’s grateful to be fully healed now and at peace. It wasn’t unusual to find her tearing down walls or fixing up cars or refurbishing finds from thrift stores. Originally from Sydney Nova Scotia-or as she’d say “down home”-where her heart truly belonged. She adored the outdoors whether it meant camping or simply enjoying tea while gardening or being outside.

As per Cookie’s wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at the WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd E (519)253-7235 on Thursday August 21, 2025 from 5 to 8 pm with a memorial service at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Windsor which would mean a lot to the family. Online condolences along with cherished memories can be shared with her family at www. windsorchapel. com
