With heavy hearts, the family of Lido Anthony Sandre shares the news of his passing on Friday, October 10th, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on June 23rd, 1937, in Windsor, Ontario. Lido lived a life filled with love for his family, dedication to his work, and service to his community.

Lido dedicated himself to caring for his family. He was the loving husband of the late Janet Sandre (née Robinet), who was his soulmate and passed away twenty-five years ago on October 1st. Their love story continues as they are now reunited in peace.

He will always be remembered by his children, John (Mike), Bill (Criss Ann), and Lisa; along with his cherished granddaughters, Mickaila (Patrick) and Sydney, who brought him immense pride and happiness as their Nonno.

Lido was a devoted son of the late Guglielmo and Anna Sandre. He was also a beloved brother to the late Lydia (late Jack) Goulette, Mary Sandre, and Richard (Barbara) Sandre. Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members will miss him dearly.

He has been reunited with his faithful dog Dudley while Buddy will continue to wait patiently by the front door for their leisurely walks and shared treats around the neighborhood.

A proud alumnus of the University of Detroit with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Lido enjoyed a remarkable career at Ford Motor Company that spanned over four decades before he retired in 1997. His career included four years in Venezuela where he faced every challenge with loyalty and commitment.

Lido embodied honor and conviction. As a family member recently mentioned, “Lido was a great man with unwavering principles. He was unapologetically strong in his beliefs, and I really looked up to him for that.” His intellect, integrity, and authenticity earned him deep respect from those around him.

He passionately supported the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers; he even attended the Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp in Lakeland, Florida. His enthusiasm for sports rivaled only by his devotion to family and community service. Lido actively participated through his Homeowners’ Association and enjoyed playing until age 78 in the Windsor Essex County Senior Softball League. Friends at Windsor Yacht Club and Beach Grove Golf & Country Club fondly remember him as an entertaining competitor in Euchre League.

Lido’s kindness shone through daily routines like recycling runs or making countless handwritten lists-whether they were errands or donations or even tracking area codes from spam calls he received! He had been determined to regain enough strength so he could attend his eldest granddaughter’s wedding just two weeks away. Though an empty chair may mark his absence that day; we’ll feel his spirit surrounding us always.

Family members and friends are invited to join together celebrating Lido’s life at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Banwell Chapel located at 11677 Tecumseh Rd E (519-253-7235) on Tuesday afternoon October 14th from 2 PM until 5 PM then again from seven until nine PM that evening; visitation continues Wednesday morning starting ten AM followed by prayers at eleven AM leading into procession towards Heavenly Rest Cemetery where Lido will rest beside Janet once more.

Lido’s sharp wit combined with genuine love for friends & family creates a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him well-here’s raising our glasses high Dad! May your glass of Malbec never run dry!

In lieu of flowers please consider making memorial contributions towards Windsor Essex Humane Society which held special significance within Lido’s heart.
