We are heartbroken to share that John C. Smith has passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Trenton and was preceded in death by his son Joseph B. Smith, his parents Eugene and Lily Smith, as well as his brothers Bill and Clarence (Buddy), and sisters Katherine (Kay), Dorothy (Dot), and Gloria.

He was always ready to lend a hand, using his skills to tackle problems big and small-often sharing stories about similar experiences he’d had in the past. He’ll be remembered for his storytelling and all the hard work he put into fixing cars for friends, family, neighbors, and anyone who needed help during his free time.

He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Agnes (Morrison), daughters Linda (Tom) and Virginia (Wendell), son Todd (Kenda), along with grandsons Adam and Joey. He is also survived by his brother George.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the VON staff as well as the doctors and nurses on the second and fifth floors of Aberdeen for their compassion during Dad’s brief stay. Special thanks to Cathy and Gerry Guthro for their unwavering support throughout the years.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Thursday, December 11 from 6-8pm at Eagles Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow on Friday, December 12 at 11:00 AM at Eagles Funeral Home, with a reception afterward at 1:00 PM in the Stellarton Legion lounge.
