John Bertram Leonard Robinson, aged 78, Ph. D., P. Eng., originally from Montreal, passed away peacefully at home in Green Hill on December 7th, 2025. He was surrounded by family and love.

John was an exceptionally talented individual who cherished his family, career, travel, and music. He was fluent in both English and French. He earned his Ph. D. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. John’s impressive career spanned over 50 years focused on transportation safety and design. He took pride in being one of Canada’s foremost traffic and road safety engineers. His journey began with the City of Ottawa and included roles as a university professor at three different institutions, work with private firms, and running his own consulting businesses. His expertise took him worldwide. He once shared with his daughter that he chose civil engineering because it allowed him to work with cars without having to be a mechanic.

John had a great sense of adventure. He loved cars and motorcycles, recently participating in races like Targa Newfoundland. He was a big fan of Harley Davidson bikes. You could always rely on John for an entertaining story or a good pun no matter the occasion. And he never turned down chocolate if it was around! A talented musician as well, John could play almost anything on the piano after hearing it just once. His faith was important to him, and he attended church regularly.

John is survived by his loving wife Nancy Ina Levo, with whom he shared six wonderful years filled with happiness and contentment. They made sure to create joyful moments together whenever possible. He is also survived by two children: daughter Jennifer Robinson (husband Matthew Crome), son Andrew Robinson (wife Alizeh Hussain Robinson), along with grandson Jared Crome. Additionally, he leaves behind two caring sisters-in-law, Wendy Levo and Anne Levo Harrop. He was predeceased by his sister Wendy (Robinson) Beggs but is survived by her two children Mary Lou Batty and John Llambias.

A visitation for John will take place at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville, NS on December 20 from 2 pm to 5 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Green Hill – Alma United Church in Alma, NS on Sunday December 21st at 2:30 pm.

The family wishes to express gratitude to everyone whose kind care for John made it possible for him to remain at home-including personal caregivers Clare, Monica, Naomi-and especially the VON team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s honor to VON Pictou County or Green Hill – Alma United Church.

… Above all enjoy the ride.
