James passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus on December 4, 2025, at the age of 85.
He was the loving husband of the late Darlene, with whom he enjoyed 58 beautiful years of marriage. He is survived by his children: Mark (Catherine) Barton from St. Albert, AB; Jim Barton (Kalista) from Fort Lauderdale, FL; and John (Laura) Barton from Waterford, MI.
He was a proud grandfather to Sarah and Rachel, Leah and Alana, their mother Liana, and great-grandfather to Maeve.
James had a successful career spanning 30 years at Chrysler Canada Ltd., where he held various roles across the country including National Import / Export Manager in Windsor, ON. Before this role, he served as an RCMP officer in Alberta from 1959 to 1964.
As per James’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to join for a memorial visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel), located at 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., (519) 253-7234, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 10:00 a. m. until the Celebration of Life Service starts at 11:00 a. m. in the Chapel. Inurnment will occur later at Lakeview Cemetery in Midland, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Windsor Essex would be appreciated.
