Gerald Wayne Joseph Simard passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus, at the age of 87.

He was a loving husband for 64 years to Sandra Simard (née Mitchell). He was a caring father to Colleen Guarino, David Simard, Maureen Olesko (Steve), and Gerald Simard Jr. (Colette).

Gerald took pride in being a grandfather to Matthew, Michaela, Jenna (Adam), David, Noah, the late Melissa, and great grandfather to Ayedon, Vincent, Amelia, and Lucy.

He was the beloved son of the late Joe and Gladys Simard. He was predeceased by his sister Gloria (John) Hogan. He will be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Gerald had a long career as a sales representative with Electrozad Supply Ltd. and was proud to be a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 261 for over 60 years. He loved seasonal camping at Epping Forest and enjoyed playing darts and cards-activities that brought him happiness and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Visitation will occur at Windsor Chapel Banwell, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, ON on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 p. m. and again from 6:00-8:00 p. m., with a Legion Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. A chapel service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, December 20 at 10:30 a. m., followed by burial at Victoria Memorial Gardens.

In memory of Gerald, donations can be made to the Windsor Humane Society and would be greatly appreciated.
