Moe Zeleny passed away on January 15th, 2026, after a courageous fight against cancer. Born in 1943, he made a lasting impact through his work in education, sportsmanship, and family commitment. He graduated from UMD where he stood out as a football player and later obtained an (M. Ed.) from Michigan State University. Moe was an inspiring teacher and football coach at Hillcrest High School and the Thunder Bay Giants Football Program. He was also one of the founding members of the Thunder Bay Minor Football Association. Moe and his wife Sonja loved to travel, spending their winters in the South Padre Islands. He was predeceased by his parents Amelia and Frank, but is survived by his wife Sonja, sons Dan (Val) and Greg (Sherri), grandchildren Daniel (Rachelle), Cady, Quinn Miller (Bryson), Hayden, Birk; great-grandchildren Ryan, Sophie, Dylan, Samuel, Isabelle, Nicolas; and sister Francy Williamson (Roydon). A celebration of life will be announced later.
