October 4, 1965 – February 1, 2026

With great sorrow, we share the news of the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandma, daughter and sister, Leanne Mary Hiebert (nee Kerr), who left us peacefully with her family by her side at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on the morning of February 1, 2026.

Leanne was born in Port Arthur on October 4, 1965. She married John Hiebert on September 5th ,1987, and together they built a wonderful life filled with love and family. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she was also an incredible crafter. Her admiration for polar bears was only rivaled by her devotion to her family. Throughout her life, Leanne dedicated herself to those she held dear-first to her children and then to her grandchildren. Her humor was unmatched; she will always be remembered for her unwavering loyalty and kindness towards everyone she loved.

She is survived by her husband of nearly four decades, John Hiebert; Daughter Kaylee Akis (nee Hiebert) and husband Tom Akis; Sons Sean Hiebert and Brian Hiebert; Grandchildren Tykus, Freya, and Thoryn Akis; Mother Lenore Tindall (nee Oldfield) and husband Bob Tindall; Brother Alan Kerr and wife Sharon Kerr (nee Penner), daughter Mackenzie and granddaughter Cassandra. Sister-in-laws Sandra Loewen (nee Hiebert) and husband Reynold Loewen with children Adam and Nicholas; Kim Ploquin (nee Hiebert) along with husband Tom Ploquin with children Robyn and Danielle; Nieces Christine Dales (nee L’Esperance) with husband Gerald Dales; Virginia Mikolayenko (nee L’Esperance) alongside husband Wesley Mikolayenko. Many extended family members also survive. Leanne was predeceased by her father Brian Kerr; parents-in-law William Hiebert and Peggy Hiebert (nee Fraser); Sister-in-law Linda L’Esperance (nee Hiebert).

A Celebration of Leanne’s Life will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026. A Memorial Reception will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street at James.

If friends wish to make a contribution in memory of Leanne, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
