It’s with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen Davis (nee Mackay) beloved spouse of former Ontario Premier William (Billy) Davis, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who peacefully left us on January 3, 2025, surrounded by her household, on the age of 91. Kathleen was born in Chicago and raised in Hinsdale, Illinois. A lifelong lover of literature and music, Kathleen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the College of Michigan and was a really passionate Wolverines supporter her complete life. Upon commencement, she studied in Germany after which moved to San Francisco the place she obtained her educating degree from the College of California, Berkeley. Kathleen stayed in San Francisco educating kindergarten. She met her ‘Billy” in Cognashene, the cottage area in Georgian Bay where both their families had cottages. They began a beautiful loving relationship that spanned 60 years. Kathleen’s adventurous spirit led her to just accept Billy’s marriage proposal, go away her life in San Francisco, transfer to Brampton and arrange her personal “family kindergarten” for his 4 younger youngsters. Their youngest daughter Meg was born later that yr, and their household was full. Kathleen was capable of finding that typically elusive steadiness between elevating her household, supporting her husband’s profession and pursuing her personal pursuits. She commonly attended persevering with schooling programs in literature on the College of Toronto, enriching and sharing her love of studying with others. Kathleen was equally keen about stay theatre and attended performances all around the province. However her best pleasure was classical music. As a Board Member and patron of the Canadian Opera Firm and a patron of the Ladies’s Musical Membership of Toronto, she actively contributed to the expansion and vibrancy of the humanities and tradition in Ontario.

Kathleen was a lady of nice energy, kindness, and resilience and he or she lived a life full of love, laughter and journey. All through her years, Kathleen touched the lives of many together with her heat, compassion, and knowledge forming very particular life-long friendships. Kathleen performed an important function in Billy’s profession offering him together with her perception and perspective on varied political points, together with social justice, schooling and the humanities. She was extensively liked for all the time fulfilling her public function with grace, intelligence and humour. When requested although, Kathleen all the time stated her best function was elevating their 5 youngsters to grow to be compassionate, community-minded people – Neil (Ruth), Nancy (Michael), Catherine (Abraham), Ian (Rose Marie), and Meg (Paul)—and was a really proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. She is survived by her brother William Mackay (Raymonda) and sister-in-law Molly Davis Endress (Willam) and predeceased by her mother and father Roland and Margaret Mackay and her sister Virginia Mackay Larson.

All her household together with her many nieces and nephews and her many pals will miss her dearly however carry her reminiscence ahead of their hearts.
