Warrant Officer James Munro Calder is survived by his son (1976), daughter (1978), grandchildren Liam, Bree, Meghan and Tyler, sister Florence (born 1942), nieces Liana and Sally and nephew Peter.
Born July 31, 1949 in Brantford, Ontario to Olive Might Robb and James Munro Calder.
Graduated from Brantford Collegiate shortly after which he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He cherished racing vehicles.
Married Raïna Stebelsky in June 1973. Served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Egypt in 1974.
In October was posted to CFB Lahr, Germany from 1975 to 1980 the place son James Ian and Larissa Anna Olivia had been born. He was a member of the Ski Patrol presently as properly. Thereafter the household was posted to Kamloops, the place he cherished to play broomball.
The household was then posted to Ottawa and at last Toronto, the place they lived in Bradford after which Toronto. He was energetic in curling and golf presently. In Toronto he divorced and obtained remarried to Betty Calvin. He moved to Aurora in 1992 and retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1995.
He moved to Meaford then Brantford, the place he labored at Adidas till 2014. He was an energetic member of the Gunners Membership, and served for a time period as President. He cherished enjoying cribbage together with his pals there.
He moved to Toronto in 2020 to be nearer to his daughter, after which to Peterborough, the place he spent his ultimate years at St. John’s.
He was sturdy and difficult when wanted, as a soldier, however enjoyable at dwelling, making a number of nice recollections together with his youngsters. Out of doors actions like snowboarding, going to wonderland, and fishing. Quiet actions like chess, Monopoly and Danger. He cherished enjoying playing cards with pals and watching any sport on television.
He was so pleased with his grandkids accomplishments in sports activities and actions, from cadets and snowboarding, to skating, soccer and piano.
He was so joyful to spend his previous couple of years in Peterborough spending time together with his daughter’s household.
He sadly handed within the early morning hours of December 7, 2024 on the Peterborough Hospital after a tricky battle with most cancers.
He is with Betty and his mother and father in heaven now, watching over his family members. RIP. You’re cherished.
