Peter Meekison, a distinguished political scientist, public servant, mentor and instructor, died January twentieth on the age of 88. A faithful husband, father, and grandfather, Peter leaves a permanent legacy in Canadian federalism, post-secondary training, and constitutional regulation.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Peter attended the College of British Columbia the place he met Patti, his spouse of 57 years. After finishing his PhD in political science at Duke College, Peter and Patti moved to Edmonton the place he joined the College of Alberta Division of Political Science in 1967. He later served as Vice President (Tutorial) and the Belzberg Chair in Constitutional Regulation. In 1974, he took a 10-year go away to function Deputy Minister of Alberta Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs. A memorial service will likely be held at St. Luke Cedar Hill Anglican Church, Victoria, on Tuesday, Could 20, at 11:00 a.m. RSVPs are welcome at [email protected].
