With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our son Ian Stuart Cameron on September 18th, 2025. He is survived by his mother Janet, father Norman, and his younger brothers Leigh and Sean.
Ian was born on October 28th, 1985 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto. He came into our lives as a blessing and an answer to many prayers. As a child, he was cheerful, healthy, and full of energy. He learned quickly, was brave, and rarely complained. When he fell down, he hardly cried; even before turning two, wearing just a diaper, he climbed a step ladder to hammer nails into the roof of his new sandbox. Just before his fifth birthday, he taught himself to ride a two-wheel bike one sunny afternoon. We affectionately called him Ian Knievel because of his fearless nature. Ian picked up several musical instruments and participated in various local sports like cross country running, lacrosse, hockey, golf; however, downhill ski racing became his standout sport. A true risk-taker with determination to go as fast as possible! His hard work paid off as he spent most of his skiing career on the podium but remained humble about his achievements. As a boy, he was energetic and engaging-kind-hearted, humorous, generous to everyone around him-a protective big brother and a loyal son.
Excited to start life on his own terms, Ian left home in search of adventure. He worked in logging and landscaping across Ontario and British Columbia. Many summers during his youth were spent working alongside co-workers Ken and Tim in the family business. Later on as an adult he dedicated several years helping out his dad while often being joined by Leigh during the summer months and occasionally Sean too. Ian was one of those talented people who could handle anything with ease using tools as if they were extensions of himself; numbers came naturally to him for calculating dimensions and angles.
After living adventurously for many years away from home, Ian returned to Huntsville. We like to think it was because he wanted to reconnect after losing precious time earlier in life. Overcoming challenges took time for Ian but through sheer determination he found success by focusing on the future ahead of him. He was finalizing the last bits of schooling needed before starting college courses set for January where he looked forward eagerly toward learning how to help others facing difficulties similar to what he’d experienced himself.
Ian had layers-a complex yet approachable personality-easily making friends wherever he’d go while leaving some stories untold about himself behind closed doors at times too; affectionate enough for frequent hugs yet valuing personal space since childhood days! Thoughtful when sharing insights that revealed how intelligent he’d become over time: curious minds led him down paths discovering answers from gardening pursuits up until recent fascinations with astronomy including comets passing by.
This summer marked a blossoming phase where Ian proudly shared produce from his garden at family dinners every night-his masterpiece reflecting both artistry & labor combined together! Busy creating projects whether inside garages or outdoors meant there would always be something new underway-he crafted designs showing imagination throughout everything accomplished showcasing creativity along with meticulous detail displayed within framed prints like that special piece featuring Madill Church which will forever hold significance among us all moving forward! To prepare for college coursework ahead soon involved writing essays covering subjects ranging from astronomy explorations down through media effects upon society plus nuclear energy implications too!
Around wherever life took him made way for lasting friendships built up over time enriching experiences along this journey packed tightly filled moments akin shooting stars-they leave trails behind them lighting up darkness though not meant stay long here among us now either…always missing our dear friend who touched so many hearts around him will remind us adapting rather than moving past this loss felt deeply
