It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Demetre ‘Jimmy’ Douldouras on Thursday, October 31, 2024 on the age of seventy seven (77).
Jimmy handed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving household, forsaking a legacy that many will bear in mind him by.
Jimmy was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, good friend and a contributing member of the West Finish ‘Junction’ Toronto Greek group.
Jimmy was blessed with, and is survived by his beloved spouse, Niki and their 4 (4) sons and 7 (7) grandchildren.
Kids: John (Fani), Andreas (Cristina Almeida), Tommy (Effie), Michael (Cristina Rapuano).
Grandchildren: Dimitri Alexander, Nicole Gianna , Agni Zoi, Dimitri Panteleimonas, Zoey Mary , Nathanos Andreas and JJ (John Jimmy).
Jimmy was born August 29,1947 in Samos, Greece to father Ioanis Douldouras and mom Eleni Mavrogianni. From a younger age he exhibited a robust work ethic, compassion for others, and a boundless curiosity in the direction of life.
Jimmy, collectively together with his father took the journey to an unknown land stuffed with alternative on the Olympia Shipliner in December 1966 and landed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, right here in Canada. He ultimately continued his journey and lived together with his Uncle Nick and Aunt Eleni Douldouras. His first years in Canada have been spent together with his cousins Teatsa, Mary and Jennie.
Jimmy had a thirst for all times and exploring this new land. He made many associates within the early years in Toronto amongst the labourers and early Greek plus different immigrant communities within the Bloor and Ossington and School and Clinton neighborhoods. These early road explorations and hangouts result in his eventual nickname of ‘Mourmouris’. Apparently, this was given to him in sarcasm – as a person that was not very talkative; a person of few phrases.
His early years in Toronto had him working on the Tip High Tailors manufacturing unit (now the lofts) after which within the building business, within the early phases of constructing Toronto. Ultimately his community of associates launched him to his love of his life – Niki.
Jimmy and Niki married Could 12, 1973 at The Greek Cathedral, The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church. By means of this union and devotion to their Church and Greek values collectively they constructed a life, full of love, laughter and numerous reminiscences. Jimmy can be survived by his much-loved Sister In Regulation, Garifalia ‘Litsa’ (predeceased brother in legislation Greg) Christeas and their two sons, Stavros and Andreas.
He had a particular place in his coronary heart for Stavros. He typically referred to him as ‘my other son’. Stavros was born in Canada and returned to Greece when his household moved away. However in true destiny, Stavros returned to stick with Jimmy and his aunt Niki for instructional and eventual profession coaching.
