With heavy hearts, our family came together to honor the life of our dear brother Darryl Penassi, who quietly passed away on January 12, 2026, at TBRHSC’s ICU, surrounded by his loving family.
Darryl’s story started on February 22, 1966, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He grew up to be a dedicated and talented Heavy Duty Mechanic.
His love for nature was evident, especially at Lac Dec Mille Lac lake where fishing brought him immense happiness. Together with his brothers Warren and Randy, Darryl created many cherished memories filled with laughter and adventure at both Randy’s garage and their camps.
Darryl was generous to a fault; he always offered help when needed. His deep pride came from his unwavering support for those he cared about.
His gentle touch and warm hugs made everyone feel valued and loved-a gift that enriched the lives of his children Ann-Marie and Kyle as well as his stepson Jamie.
Darryl leaves behind a lasting impression on the hearts of his partner Debbie Bird, daughter Ann-Marie (Tyler), son Kyle, stepson Jamie (Lauren), grandchildren, cousins, along with his brothers Warren (Maureen) and Randy (Rhonda), sisters Cynthia and Wendy (Hector), and mother Mae Penassi.
Though Darryl’s time with us has ended, he will live on through the memories and love he shared. He is fondly remembered by his family and predeceased by his father Michael Penassi along with his partner’s parents Joseph Sr. and Lauretta Bird.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the ICU staff at TBRHSC for your kindness, care, and compassion during Darryl’s journey; your commitment allowed us to find comfort knowing he was in such skilled hands.
