With heavy hearts, we share the news of our dear mother, Catherine Joanne Muldoon, who peacefully passed away on the evening of February 18, 2026, in Brampton, Ontario, at the age of 82.
Family and friends called her Joanne while she was known as Catherine in her professional life. She was born on November 16, 1943, to Joseph and Anna (née Turcotte) Maloney at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Growing up in Burlington, she shared a close bond with her beloved brothers Douglas, Lawrence, and Michael.
Joanne attended St. Joseph’s Training School for Nurses in London, Ontario. There she formed lifelong friendships and discovered a love for Celtic-inspired traditional Maritime music and dancing. It was during one of these dances that she met Paul, who would become her husband. Their journey together took them across Ontario-from London to Nipigon-before they finally settled down in Brampton.
Our mother dedicated her life to service and compassion. After raising her children, she returned to work as a registered nurse specializing in long-term care where both residents and colleagues adored her. Joanne had a passion for food, loved reading books, and was an enthusiastic Blue Jays fan. She treasured late summers spent with family at the cottage listening to the haunting call of loons over Muskoka lakes.
She instilled values of strength and gentleness within us-showing how to serve others gracefully while staying true to ourselves-and taught us about unconditional love. Joanne will be remembered as a kind-hearted woman whose spirit touched everyone she encountered. Her absence will be felt deeply by family members, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Joanne was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul John Muldoon after 42 years of marriage along with brothers Lawrence and Douglas Maloney.
She is survived by three children and five grandchildren: Robert Lawrence Muldoon (wife Tricia) from Brampton; Kathleen Marie Muldoon (husband Seth Dobson) along with grandchildren Genevieve, Gideon, and Cormac from Phoenix; and Paul Ryan Muldoon (partner Emma Collier) with grandsons Sullivan and Fletcher from Melton Mowbray in the UK. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Ward Funeral Home on Wednesday February 25th from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Brampton on Wednesday February 25th at 11:00 a. m., followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery in Mississauga. A reception will follow the service.
