Ontario’s police watchdog says it’s investigating the loss of life of a 31-year-old woman whereas she was in Hamilton police custody.
The Particular Investigations Unit says officers arrested the lady on Monday for alleged “failure to conform offences” and he or she was put in a cell at a police station.
The watchdog says she was present in medical misery at about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The girl was taken to hospital and pronounced lifeless there.
The SIU says an post-mortem has been scheduled and several other investigators have been assigned to the case.
