Kingston police say an area waste administration facility was evacuated Saturday afternoon after staff discovered a reside grenade in a scrap steel container.
Kingston police say an area waste administration facility was evacuated Saturday afternoon after staff discovered a reside grenade in a scrap steel container.
Police say workers on the facility have been sorting objects in a scrap steel disposal container after they discovered what they believed was a grenade.
They are saying the employees then contacted police, who decided the item was in reality a reside grenade with the pin nonetheless intact.
The ability was evacuated and the Ontario Provincial Police explosives unit went to the scene.
Kingston police say the OPP unit disposed of the grenade.
Police say it is unknown how the grenade ended up within the waste container.
