A shocking video shows arsonists igniting a fire at a movie theatre in Oakville.
The footage, shared on You Tube by Film. Ca Cinemas, captures the suspects pouring what seems to be gasoline on the entrance of the theatre doors and then lighting it before fleeing the scene.
Film. Ca Cinemas is situated on Speers Road close to Kerr Street in Oakville.
The event occurred in the early morning hours of September 25, as reported by the company.
No employees or patrons were present in the theatre during this incident, and thankfully, no injuries were reported.
In the video, a white or grey minivan can be seen driving around the empty parking lot. The clip then shows two individuals ascending the stairs and dousing liquid near the theatre doors before setting it ablaze with what looks like a box of matches. The area quickly erupts into flames as they sprint away into the parking lot.
“Film. Ca Cinemas is fully cooperating with Halton Regional Police in their ongoing investigation,” stated the theatre company.
A message from the theatre mentioned that extra security will be implemented at cinemas moving forward to ensure guest safety.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact Halton Regional Police at 905-845-4747 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The cinema has previously been targeted by vandals during screenings of Indian films. At present, they are featuring They Call Him OG, a Telugu-language Indian film; however, there’s no indication that this was related to the arson incident.
