TORONTO — Toronto police say one in every of their officers died whereas on responsibility Thursday after experiencing a suspected medical episode.
Police say Det. John Park, a 14-year veteran of the drive, died after executing a search warrant in a theft investigation.
Deputy Chief Lauren Pogue says that whereas the investigation is ongoing, there’s nothing to recommend Park’s explanation for demise was something apart from medical.
Pogue says Park was a father of two younger youngsters and his household and colleagues are devastated by the loss.
She says police met with Park’s household on the Humber River Hospital, the place he was taken.
A big police and emergency crew presence was seen exterior the hospital on Thursday.
“That is each household’s worst concern, when a liked one works as a police officer and doesn’t come house safely after their shift,” an emotional Pogue advised reporters.
She stated Park was “a loving father” and he was appreciated by everybody who knew him within the police drive.
“He served our metropolis with braveness and an important sense of responsibility,” she stated. “Shedding a good friend and colleague within the line of responsibility at all times has a profound affect on our service, on our metropolis, on our members and our policing neighborhood.”
