Thieves aren’t just stealing packages from porches; they’re also breaking into mailboxes in neighborhoods to grab your items.

Halton Regional Police report a rise in mailbox thefts across the area.

The affected towns include Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.

Burlington has experienced the most significant increase, especially in the Millcroft and Orchard areas, but break-ins are happening nearly everywhere.

No arrests have been made so far.

“The break-ins are occurring in the early morning hours between 2 a. m. and 5 a. m.,” police say. “Suspects are using tools to pry open parcel lockers and steal mail and packages.”

Police state they are increasing patrols in many areas; however, they urge the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities.

If you have any information about this case, please contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.

You can also submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through their website at www. haltoncrimestoppers. ca.
