For the second time this week, an Ontario movie theatre has been attacked.

The most recent event happened this morning (Oct. 2) just before 2 a. m. at Film. Ca Cinemas in Oakville, where a lone shooter fired multiple shots through the front doors of the empty building on Speers Road.

The suspect is described as a man with dark skin, of heavy build, dressed entirely in black and wearing a black face mask.

On Sept. 25, two individuals were seen on video attempting to ignite a fire at the theatre’s entrance.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.

This cinema has previously faced vandalism during screenings of films from India, and Halton Regional Police believe these recent actions are targeted attacks rather than random violence.

If you have any information about these incidents, please reach out to the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext: 2216.

Film. Ca had been screening They Call Him OG, a Telugu-language Indian film and was set to show Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 but has now canceled future screenings to prevent further potential violence.

“We understand the anticipation and excitement surrounding these films, and we sincerely thank all fans, supporters, and collaborators for their enthusiasm and encouragement,” operators of the theatre said in an online statement.

In connection with the arson case, police haven’t confirmed whether the suspects were male or female. They are described as white and dressed in black clothing. A white SUV was spotted near the fire scene while another suspicious grey SUV was observed in the cinema’s parking lot on three different occasions between 2 a. m. and 3 a. m.
