TORONTO — Ontario’s Opposition chief is accusing the federal government of making a “cash-for-access tradition” and is asking the province’s integrity commissioner to look into an upcoming Progressive Conservative occasion fundraiser with the premier and transportation minister.
The fundraiser is billed as a night with Doug Ford and Prabmeet Sarkaria, and tickets are promoting for $1,000.
The Ontario Trucking Affiliation has put out a “name to motion” urging members to purchase tickets and ship a message to Sarkaria about cracking down on illicit operations.
NDP Chief Marit Stiles says cupboard ministers shouldn’t be fundraising off of people that have enterprise of their ministry.
She needs the integrity commissioner to take a look at whether or not that fundraiser would put Ford or Sarkaria in an actual or potential battle of curiosity, or in any other case contravene the Lobbyists Registration Act, the Members’ Integrity Act, the Public Service of Ontario Act or parliamentary conference.
Lawyer Normal Doug Downey says all political events observe the identical guidelines, and donation data are clear so the general public can scrutinize them.
