A fire at a business in Oakville created a noticeable distraction for drivers heading west on the QEW near Trafalgar Road early Wednesday morning.

The Oakville Fire Department reported that the blaze occurred at Access Storage located at 1195 North Service Rd.

Halton police confirmed that they closed part of North Service Road East from Invicta to Joshua Creek drives to respond around 5:15 a. m.

Crews indicated that smoke and flames were visible when they arrived on the scene.

The fire had affected several storage units while teams worked to set up barriers to keep it from spreading further.

Six fire trucks and one command officer were dispatched to handle the situation.

No injuries were reported among firefighters or the public.

A town salt truck was sent out to help minimize the risk of ice forming, and some barriers have been placed near nearby buildings to limit potential water damage.

An investigation into the involved units is currently underway.
