A motorcyclist has died after a crash involving a turning vehicle in Oakville on Tuesday evening, as reported by Halton police.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Dundas Street East and Eighth Line around 6:45 p. m. after receiving calls about a serious accident.
According to police, the motorcycle rider sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators informed 680 News Radio that initial findings indicate the motorcycle was speeding through the intersection when it struck a vehicle making a turn.
Speed is thought to have played a role in this incident, although officials have not shared additional information as they continue their investigation into what led to the crash.
The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the location after the incident.
Following the crash, Halton police shut down both eastbound and westbound lanes of Dundas Street East between Postridge Drive and Eighth Line for collision reconstruction officers to conduct their work. The road has since reopened.
