Halton Regional Police are looking into a suspicious death in Oakville after a man was discovered dead inside a building in the downtown area on Saturday evening.

According to the Halton Regional Police, officers responded to a location near Lakeshore Road East and Navy Street around 5:30 p. m. on March 22. When they arrived, police found the body of an adult male inside a building. The circumstances surrounding the case prompted investigators to classify the death as suspicious.

The HRPS Major Crime Bureau has taken over the investigation and is working to find out what caused the man’s death and what events led up to it. Currently, police have not disclosed the identity of the deceased nor provided details regarding how he may have died.

No arrests have been made related to this incident, and investigators say there are no suspect descriptions available at this point. Authorities haven’t confirmed if the death was targeted or if there’s any risk to public safety but are encouraging anyone with information to step forward.

As part of their investigation, a section of Lakeshore Road East between Navy Street and Thomas Street has been closed off for both cars and pedestrians. Police stated that this closure is crucial for preserving the scene so forensic teams can carry out a complete examination. The area will likely remain closed until Sunday morning, and residents are encouraged to avoid it if possible.

Investigators are reaching out to the public for help. Anyone who might have been in that area on Saturday, especially those with dash cam footage from Lakeshore Road East between 10:00 a. m. and 5:30 p. m., is urged to contact police.

“If you were driving through the area during that time period, even if you think your footage shows nothing unusual, we still want to see it,” said a spokesperson for HRPS. “Any detail, no matter how small, could be helpful to the investigation.”

If you have any information, please reach out to the HRPS Major Crime Bureau at 905-825-4776. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at [www. haltoncrimestoppers. ca](http://www. haltoncrimestoppers. ca).
